The 2009 Exhibition

Doric Hall, Massachusetts State House, Boston
Monday April 27 - Friday May 1, 2009

Scheduled in concert with the Annual Victim Rights Conference of the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance, Violence Transformed 2009 brings together a range of artworks and perspectives to provoke debate, reflection and action. Our 2009 curatorial teams are selecting groups of work that express for them art’s transformative relationship with violence. Together their distinct voices generate representative insight into the range of artistic strategies at work in the area today.

This year’s exhibited works explore 4 themes in particular:

  • Art as Protest
  • Art and Refuge
  • Art and Commemoration
  • Art as a means of Imagining Alternatives
